Microsoft introduced Hotmail login to the world and it the second largest used email service in the world. There’s no doubt that Microsoft Hotmail email accounts have helped the company meet their rival company in the competition.
It is one of the major reasons why they have also added it to their Windows eco-system. The company managed to create something around it making it much more useful than before, and no Windows PC user can deny that having a Hotmail helps them connected to the Windows machines and devices.
But, where and how it started and how it has evolved over the years? Allow us to take you to the tour of Microsoft eco-system.
What is Hotmail & Use Hotmail login?
Hotmail is a company owned by Microsoft that offers a free email address to the people, and you can send, receive, share emails with your loved ones. It is also known for a professional user interface that has led many company employees and clients to communicate via the Hotmail.
Hotmail was hot back in the day, and it may be popular anymore, but even I came to know about Hotmail within months of I have started to browse the Internet.
Hotmail was the first to offer an email address for free of cost, and email service providers use to change the monthly fee on the email address and use of the email accounts.
Originally, Hotmail is not founded and started by the Microsoft, yes, you read it right.
Apple hardware engineers Jack Smith and Sabeer Bhatia created Hotmail 4 July 1996 on American Independence Day. The idea was to help the world to communicate with one user to another user through the internet around the world. The ideas were effective as many family members were able to send and receive messages to their inbox without any issues.
Microsoft had an eye on the duo and their revolutionary Hotmail service that has helped their company employees stay connected to their families at any time. Bhatia is an entrepreneur, so he was the president and CEO of the company until Microsoft offered 300 million dollars – 400 million dollars in 1998. The CEO worked for the Microsoft for a year after the Hotmail acquisition.
Bhatia was an entrepreneur, and he started Arzoo Inc, an e-commerce firm, which was his next start-up company. In 2011, Hotmail announced that they have less 350 registered users compared to Google E-mail services, which was a great achievement.
A free medial address on freedom day clicked in the American community, and it has sparked a new era. Yes, you read it right; you had to pay for the email accounts in the past. Because the hosting companies offer email accounts at a price like $10/month for 50 email accounts, and this is the today’s price in the web market.
Yes, even now, if you want an email address of your domain, then you have to pay a monthly fee. They are the first entrepreneurs in the world, who have helped us get a free email address service in 1996, and it paved the way to Google email, Yahoo email, and even Microsoft continued to offer free email services.
Is Hotmail Worth Using in 2018?
Hotmail was developed in 1996, but it has evolved over the years, and the Microsoft has worked extremely hard to make sure they provide the services to the new users and existing users on the platform.
Hotmail has evolved, and they have transformed it since 2010, and they started to compete with the Google email service and Apple eco-system, and the company does not want to terminate the project, and use the existing and developed base in the coming projects of Windows 10 Phone, Window 10 Tablets and Windows 10 PC.
Microsoft had a confusing service over the years like Hotmail (main email service,) Outlook (another email service,) and Live.com email services. These three services were very confusing to me back in the days, and I was also very confused when it comes to using them.
But, they have solved it and finally made the last changes that were very much needed services.
They have combined Live.com and Hotmail to Microsoft account.
The Hotmail login page will redirect to login.live.com, and if you try to create Hotmail create an account, then it will redirect you to Signup.Live.com, and that’s all.
Now, the company made up their mind and combined Hotmail with Live.com. Honestly, the new Microsoft account is Hotmail upgraded version.
There isn’t much difference in the new user interface of Microsoft account and Hotmail, and that’s why we have quoted Hotmail upgraded version.
But, there’s one more thing that everyone should know about it.
When you try to create a new account, then you have a choice to select Outlook.com and Hotmail.com because Microsoft developed and launched Outlook.com, while Hotmail email service is someone else creation that everyone loves.
Let me tell you that we are going to cover it in “Hotmail Benefits” by the end of the tutorial, to read till the end.

Hotmail Feature & Benefit
There are many benefits you get from Microsoft Hotmail account, and it is also one account that supports every Microsoft account.
#1 – One Account
I know that many of you are using Microsoft products like Office, Suite, Storage, Cloud storage, OS, Phones, Tablets, Surface Pro, and more.
You need one Microsoft account, and you can start using them all with one account.
#2 – OneDrive
I consider OneDrive as biggest feature of MS Software Company because you can upload, download, and manage files from cloud storage offered by the OneDrive.
I use Windows 10 and Windows 7 PC every single day, and I consider OneDrive big inbuilt cloud storage for my Windows PC. You can save anything on the platform that offers you 5GB cloud storage.
By adding your Hotmail account to OneDrive, you can upload and access any file on every MS product like Word document.
#3 – Windows Store Apps
You can connect your Hotmail account with Windows running machine. In simple words, you can access the Windows store of your Windows Phone and Windows 10 store as well.
You can download apps from the store and keep track of them from desktop and phone. It also keeps your devices update to date by connecting your device to Hotmail account.
#4 – Sync Your Settings
Imagine, you can synchronize your device to your Windows Phone, Microsoft Surface Pro, and Windows 10 PC. In the synchronization, you can sync the settings of user accounts, number of user accounts connected to the account, and more.
#5 – Cortana
The Microsoft has launched a personal assistant like Google Now, Apple Siri. The MS prompt you to login to your Microsoft account, in order, to use the Cortana functions. The Cortana will begin to learn your behavior and save the data in your Microsoft account, and then it helps you whenever you need it the most.
The Cortana, Apple Siri, and Amazon Echo, Google Now, and other voice assistant support are extremely dangerous because it can be used to spy on you.
#5 – Skype
Oh yes, the first software that enabled people to communicate with your family member, relatives, and professional business people.
I have used Skype for professional purposes like Interviews, Presentations, and even cold calls sales. Skype offers free calls between any countries to the USA without paying a single penny, which is a great feature in my option.
You can use Skype to connect to countries, where Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram and other websites are banned. Example, I have a client who lives in a country where all messaging apps are banned, and Skype is the only service that works.
Yes, you can text, video calls, voice calls, send media files, and even documents from the Skype.
You can use this amazing service with your Hotmail account.
#6 –XBOX 360
OH YES! How about connecting your XBOX?
You can use one account to find contacts who are on XBOX from your Hotmail, yes you can do that without any issues.
It is an amazing feature to invite people and talk to them from Desktop, Laptop, Emails, Video calls, Voice calls, gaming, and everything is possible with one Hotmail account.
There are more, but I think this is enough to explain its benefits.
Nobody talks about the drawbacks of a product, and they only highlight its benefits. We consider drawbacks as well because we don’t you to find them out later on and feel your time wasted.
#1 – It Collects Information
I have already told you that Cortana observe your behavior and saves them in your account and you can’t even access it.
Let me inform you that MS collects more than just Cortana data like personal information, sensitive data, and more.
I think you should be careful when it comes to a company trying to collect more data so they can provide you with better functions and features in the future.
#2 – Securities
I severely doubt MS security when it comes login into your account.
I have seen much software that breaks the login lock screen, and anyone can get inside of your device and access the OneDrive and other services to find files.
